GAMETIME! 1-10-07 ISU v. Wichita St. Halftime

The score at the half is 33-30 in favor of Indiana State.

At the beginning of the game, ISU and Wichita State traded baskets.

Then, ISU went on a 14-6 run to go out to a 19-12 lead, which got the larger-than-usual crowd on its feet. In the run, the Sycamores made all of their three-point attempts. Cole Holmstrom, who was awarded at the beginning of the game for being the 2006 Indiana Mr. Basketball, led the run with six points on two three-pointers.

Then, the Shockers started going into the paint and the Sycamores were helpless to stop the attack. The Shockers outscored ISU 18-2 in the paint.

The Sycamores ended the half by missing nine of their last 10 shots. If it weren’t for two back-to-back steals by junior guard Gabe Moore, Wichita State would probably be ahead.

Something that troubles me is that freshman guard Marico Stinson started the game, but has not come back in after playing nine minutes. He was 0-4, so that was probably the reason. I hope that is it and he did not suffer any kind of injury.

Holmstrom leads the Sycamores in scoring with 13 and sophomore center Jay Tunnell has put in 10.

There will be more after the game.
